Tips to Upgrade your Homes Curb Appeal

Your home’s curb appeal is the first impression that visitors and potential buyers get of your home. It’s the way your home looks from the street, and it’s an important factor in creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere. If your home’s curb appeal could use a boost, there are many ways you can improve it.

  1. Add some greenery: Adding some greenery to your home’s exterior is an easy way to improve its curb appeal. Plant some flowers, shrubs or trees to add color and texture to your yard. It’s a nice way to provide a welcoming experience as people take off their shoes or put shoe covers on.
  2. Upgrade your front door: Your front door is one of the first things people notice about your home, so consider upgrading it to something more stylish or modern. As agents are unlocking the front door their clients are waiting usually behind them. Having a door that’s showing a lot of wear and tear can subliminally cause a buyer to wonder the upkeep of the home.
  3. Clean your exterior: Dirt, grime, and mildew can accumulate on your home’s exterior over time, making it look dull and uninviting. A good power washing, especially moss coved driveways, can give your home a fresh, clean look.
  4. Install outdoor lighting: Outdoor lighting not only adds to your home’s curb appeal, but it also improves safety and security. You can add landscape lighting to highlight your trees and bushes, or install motion-activated lights for added security. You can usually find less expensive lighting that can really add to evening showing experiences, especially in Washington’s late fall and winter.
  5. Maintain your lawn: A well-maintained lawn is essential for good curb appeal. Make sure to mow it regularly, weed it, and water it when necessary.
  6. Have a welcome mat at the door. This is not only nice but can help prevent dirt in the home and keep your home in optimal showing condition
  7. Replace any outside sconce light bulbs that are out. It makes the home not only dark but much like the front door can add to a subliminal message of upkeep.
  8. Re-mulch your garden beds. If you haven’t done this for a while it definitely updates your home exterior. However, make sure you don’t get the kind that has manure mixed in or alternatively do this well in advance of listing to give the mulch time to settle and not smell.

Improving your home’s curb appeal doesn’t have to be a daunting task, most people just need a good “spring cleaning”. By following these tips, you can make your home look more inviting and welcoming, and create a great first impression for visitors and potential buyers!
